About ACFIN

The Advisory Committee to Finance Minister (ACFIN) was established by YAB Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim on 7 February 2023.

ACFIN is chaired by Tan Sri Mohd Hassan Marican (Adviser to PETRONAS) with members:

  • Datuk Amar Abdul Hamed Sapawi (Chairman of Sarawak Energy Berhad)
  • Dato’ Ahmad Fuad Md Ali (Executive Chairman of FPSO Ventures Sendirian Berhad)
  • Dato’ Dr. Rajah Rasiah (Distinguished Professor of Economics Asia-Europe Institute, Universiti Malaya)
  • Dr. Yeah Kim Leng (Professor of Economics, Sunway Business School)
  • Dr. Nungsari Ahmad Radhi (Trustee, Yayasan Rahimah Yusof)

Four (4) task forces have established to assist ACFIN in undertaking its roles and deliverables. Members of the task forces comprise of subject matter experts from both the Government and private sector.

ACFIN’s main role is to advise the Finance Minister in four key focus areas:

Review matters pertaining to increasing the Government revenue base.

Subsidy & Social Protection

Review and restructure matters related to subsidies and provision of a more holistic social protection.

Government-Owned Entities

Review and rationalise Government-owned entities’ roles and functions and to consolidate/restructure them where appropriate.

National Debt

Review and restructure the national debt.
